The Impact Factor (IF) is a measure of the importance of peer-reviewed scientific journals within their respective research fields. It reflects the extent to which newly published research cites and references articles previously published in the same journal. Accordingly, a journal with a high impact factor is considered more influential and reliable, as its published research is cited more frequently than that of journals with lower impact factors. The impact factor remains the most widely recognized indexing metric. It is calculated as the average number of citations received by articles published in a journal during the preceding two years. This has made the impact factor a widely accepted standard for selecting appropriate publication venues. Currently, several institutions calculate impact factors annually for peer-reviewed scientific journals registered with them and publish these metrics in what are known as Journal Citation Reports, where journals are ranked according to their impact factors. Unfortunately, there is limited global attention given to calculating impact factors for journals published in the Arabic language. This has led to the development of the “Arab Impact Factor”, a metric اختصاص specifically designed for journals published in Arabic. The Arab Impact Factor provides both quantitative and qualitative evaluation for ranking and classifying Arabic-language journals. It is used in academic assessment to determine the quality and academic distinction of these journals. The evaluation process involves analyzing multiple criteria, including: The number of citations received by articles published in these journals from other journals The originality and scientific quality of the published research The technical competence of the editorial board The quality of editing and publishing standards The regularity of journal publication The rigor of the peer-review process Adherence to research and publication ethics Through these criteria, a comprehensive and balanced assessment of Arabic scientific journals is achieved.
